I don’t know about you, but I am finding it harder and harder to actually get myself to crack open a good book, or even listen to it on my headset. It’s as if I’ve forgotten how transformative reading can be, and how it allows me to transport myself to another world in a way that television cannot. Instead my mind runs along the familiar rut of scrolling through social media, through blog posts, through news articles and other people’s opinions. Ads flash at me from every corner and drag my mind from the subject at hand to the issue of whether of not we need new curtains. Either that, or I find the latest Hulu or Netflix series with the clear intention of watching just 1 episode, and 2 seasons later realize I really, really need to pee.
